GIS & Mapping Committee

The FNCA GIS & Mapping Committee collects and analyzes GIS related data, shares ideas, strategies, and lessons learned about GIS-related topics.

Committee activities include and are not limited to:

  • Acquiring and updating GIS base map data layers
  • Geocoding and other location finding
  • Keeping up with high-growth areas (e.g., new residential subdivisions)
  • Drawing dig site polygons accurately and precisely
  • Member facility operators’ service area mapping
  • Buffers on dig site polygons and/or member operators’ service area polygons
  • Reducing over-notification to facility operators
  • Archiving historical GIS data, including base map data and member service area data
  • Project-specific data layers to aid in ticket creation (e.g., new rural pipeline route)
